5000 Skilled Worker Application Received By Quebec
Quebec, a province in eastern Canada, has received a staggering amount of 5000 applications for immigration on 16 August 2016. With these applications the Quebec Skilled Worker Program has reached its upper limit on applications.
These applications have been taken through the Mon Project Quebec, which is an online immigration application management system. Mon Project Quebec combined with QSWP; aims at making the immigration process of skilled workers a cake walk. The applications have to be submitted during the intake period which is mentioned by the Canadian authorities. The application is submitted for a Quebec Selection Certificate, which is the first step for anyone wishing to immigrate to this French speaking province of Canada.
QSWP adheres to the first come first serve principle. This is why many applicants were redirected to a different site where they had to wait in an online queue. The first 5000 application were approved for further processing and the rest were rejected. All of this happened within five hours from the inception period of application submission. The intake cap for the period April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 of 10,000 application was deemed complete by Quebec's Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion ('the MIDI', the government body overseeing immigration to Quebec.Like the whole west, Quebec is also facing a problem of aging population. To abate the effect of this they are making sure to infuse their economy and population with young, vibrant and skilled workers. The MIDI has stated that it is set to augment the number of applications accepted under QSWP.
