Reading section

Now let us discuss about the reading section, it lasts for 60 minutes and consists of three passages which you will read and answer questions about. The abstracts are generally pulled out of famous books, newspapers, magazines and sometimes journals. You will need to:

  • Identify tones, attitudes and perceptions of the abstract
  • Find some detailed information
  • Complete a diagram that is given

Writing section

Now let’s come to the writing component, it lasts for 60 minutes and comprises of two main tasks. Read the questions carefully and always make sure that you read and understand the question correctly before you start composing your text. You are required to:

  • Write an essay in retort to a statement (250 words)
  • Write an eloquent report of a table or diagram (150 words)

Speaking section

Last but not the least is the Speaking component which lasts for about 10-15 minutes. It is a face-to- face interview between the candidate and the examiner. You will need to:

  • Introduce yourself and give the interview
  • Indulge in individual talk
  • You will be asked for your views on a topic

The key is to speak fluently, using appropriate grammar and demonstrate a wide array of vocabulary. Never dither from your opinions, always support your views and ideologies, and refrain from answering questions with just a “yes” or a “no”, the examiners will sense that you are nervous;it doesn’t project a good image of you.
