Manitoba has till now issued a total of 490 invitations to the PNP applicants so far during this month

January 29, 2021

Manitoba conducted its next PNP draw on January 28, 2021 under the Expression of Interest immigration system in which a total of 218 letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) or invitations to apply were issued to the eligible candidates.

Out of the total 218 invitations, 13 were issued to applicants who have already submitted Express Entry profile in the pool and also have a valid job seeker validation code. In addition to this, the candidates should also possess a prior experience in an occupation listed in the Manitoba’s in-demand occupations list.

This is the second PNP draw released in the month of January by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), where the skilled professional and the international graduates were invited through the three immigration streams that are:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • International Education Stream, and
  • Skilled Worker Overseas Stream

Details of the recently held MPNP Draw are described as follows:

Category: Skilled Workers in Manitoba Total Number of invitations issued: 178 CRS score: 518

Category: Skilled Worker Overseas Total Number of invitations issued: 17 CRS score: 681

Category: International Education Stream Total Number of invitations issued: 23 CRS score: No EOI score requirement provided

The MPNP considered only the Skilled Worker Overseas applicants selected in this draw in case they were invited directly through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Express Entry

Applicants that are eligible for the Express Entry System are then ranked on the basis of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which further takes into consideration the human capital factors to assess the candidates. This includes, age, employment experience, education and language proficiency skills.

The highest-scoring applicants are invited to apply for the permanent residence of Canada through the regular federal Express Entry draws that selects candidates from the Express Entry Pool.

Those candidates who receive a nomination from the province are awarded with additional 600 points towards their existing Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points in their EOI and therefore are guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the subsequent draw from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

All the Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination letter from the province of Manitoba in this particular draw need to provide their valid Express Entry Number along with job seeker validation code.

EOI System of Manitoba

Individuals who want to immigrate to Manitoba through the Provincial Nominee Program of the province or the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are required to register themselves by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP to receive the Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) through the Skilled Workers Overseas stream and the Skilled Workers in Manitoba streams.

Under Manitoba’s EOI system, such eligible applicants are ranked out of 1000 points across Human Capital factors that include their education, employment experience, language proficiency in English and/or French, connection with the province, along with other characteristics.

Details about Manitoba Immigration Stream

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba immigration stream and the Skilled Workers Overseas Category enable the provincial government of Manitoba to nominate eligible and skilled candidates who have the potential to support the labor market needs of the province.

People who are located overseas are required to have a prior established connection with the province. This can be demonstrated in various ways, that are through close family relationships or friends already residing in the province, previous work experience in the province or an invitation received under one of the Strategic Recruitment Initiatives of the MPNP.

Further, applicants are not required to be physically present in the province during the time of application submission. All successful candidates that are selected under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category should meet certain eligibility criteria, which include having a full-time permanent employment offer from an employer already based in Manitoba.

International students who have graduated from an academic institution in Manitoba might receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) under the International Education Stream if they have the required in-demand skills.
