Express Entry, Business Impact and Labour Impact candidates were nominated for the permanent residence of Canada via provincial nomination program

April 16, 2021

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program has released complete details related to the PNP draw that took place on April 15, 2021.

The provincial government of Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) has issued a total of 156 invitations to eligible candidates.

Most of these invitations, that are, 140 invitations were issued to Express Entry and Labour Impact applicants, while the remaining 16 invitations went to Business Impact candidates who were having a minimum CRS point threshold of 75 points.

Provincial Nominee Programs or PNPs enables  the provinces and territories across Canada to nominate immigration candidates who meet the required labour market needs. This is applicable for Prince Edward Island also, which manages its own provincial nominee program under the guidelines approved by the federal government of Canada. Provincial Nominee Program immigration streams are sometimes aligned with the Federal Express Entry System for immigration to Canada.

Immigration to PEI, similar to other provinces and territories across Canada has been declined due to the ongoing pandemic associated travel restrictions. However, the federal government of Canada has certain plans to achieve its target of inviting skilled candidates in great number in the year 2021. Under the provincial nominee programs, the government of Canada is targeting to admit more than 80,000 new immigrants in the year 2021.

PEI Express Entry Category

The PEI PNPs Express Entry Category is associated directly with the Canadian Government Express Entry System.

Eligible Entry Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points towards their existing CRS score of the Express Entry application and are therefore guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry Draw for the permanent residence of Canada.

Express Entry candidates who will receive a provincial nomination are awarded with an additional 600 points towards their existing Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and are therefore guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the permanent residence of Canada in the next Federal Express Entry Draw.

In order to get considered for the Provincial Nomination from the province of OEI, Express Entry candidates are required to create and submit the EOI profile towards the PEI PNP.

These EOI profiles are then given points based on the unique point grid system followed by the province. The highest scoring candidate then receives an invitation to apply (ITA) from the draws that takes place frequently in the gap of approximately one month time.

Further, it should be noted that the PEI PNP has not provided ant breakdown of the total number of candidates that were selected under the Express Entry immigration category as well under the other Labour Impact Category nor they have intimidated the minimum EOI score needed for each stream.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category of the PEI PNP is designed for the foreign nationals who already have a valid job offer from the PEI and have also received support from the employer based in PEI. It is further being divided into three immigration stream: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate.

Candidates in this immigration category as well should also submit the EOI profile so that they can be considered for the provincial nomination under the Labour Impact immigration category.

Business Impact Category

A total number of 32 candidates that were invited under the Business Impact immigration category in the recent draw are required to have a minimum EOI score equivalent to 102. All these invitations were issued to these eligible candidates under the Work permit Stream, which in turn is especially designed for the entrepreneurs who want to own and manage a business in the province of PEI.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Providing pathways to Canada immigration

Yes! If the federal Express Entry is not working out due to the current pandemic situation or some specific factor then you can explore other immigration options for migrating to Canada. There are a plenty of other ways to make it happen and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the most prominent pathways among these alternatives to move to Canada.

The Federal Government of Canada is giving more power to all its provinces when it comes to selecting new foreign skilled immigrants. You should be aware that some of the provincial nominations result in an addition of 600-points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry System but some of these PNP streams does not work in direct alignment with the larger Express Entry System.
