Alberta has created a temporary, self-nominated permanent residence route. Entitled the Provincial Nominee Program, it will accept applications through November 28, 2013.
The eligibility criteria include:
Legal residence in Alberta.
Full-time employment in an eligible occupation.
The applicant must have worked in an occupation for two of the past three years for the higher-skilled occupations.
The applicant must have worked in an occupation for three of the past four years for positions requiring secondary education or a vocational certificate.
Possible language competency requirements.
