With sudden increase in the demand of candidates, Nova Scotia government announced the decision to accept another round of applications up to 300 under Nova Scotia Demand – Express Entry Immigration system from 9:00 am onwards on 11th October 2017 (Wednesday). The category B of the stream is where the application will be accepted wherein the candidate do not require to show job offer but to gain eligibility they need to have sufficient work experience in the field they are applying for.
Another benefit is that prospective candidates can also opt for Provincial Nomination through the stream under NSNP (Nova Scotia Nominee Program) one of the most prestigious PNPs (Provincial Nominee Program) of Canada. As the stream is considered to be an enhanced Express Entry category, prospective candidates can garner up to 600 additional CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) points and an opportunity to be regarded for permanent residency by acquiring ITA (an Invitation to Apply) once they are selected from the pool of candidates.
It is well known fact that Category B of Nova Scotia’s Express Entry stream is one of the most popular stream of all that gets filled up at a record breaking speed of just one day. Thus it is imperative for interested candidates to be ready with required documentation and eligibility proofs to avoid losing this opportunity. Although the stream may reopen in future, having all the required documents ready will surely benefit those who lose out on the opportunity now.
This Express Entry Stream is one of the only few opportunities that work on First Come First Serve basis. Those candidates who wish to apply under Nova Scotia Demand – Express Entry Stream, having work experience in any of the following field may apply and submit their application for review.

Eligibility for the stream:
Prospective Express Entry candidates who wish to apply for Category B of Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry must have:
- Have at least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in the last six years in one of the ‘opportunity’ occupations considered by Nova Scotia (listed above);
- Have complete assessment of foreign education credentials.
- Showcase, through a standard language test acceptable for both the governments of Canada and Nova Scotia, along with an adequate intermediate language proficiency in English or French (Canadian Language Benchmark 7);
- Garner at least 67 points under the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry points grid. Points are accorded on the basis of language proficiency, age, work experience, education, and adaptability.
- Have a proficient profile in the Express Entry candidates pool.
Category A remains open
Category A of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream remains open at this time. There is no targeted occupations list under this category, but applicants need a valid job offer in order to be eligible.
A valid job offer must be made
- by one employer in Nova Scotia;
- for continuous, paid, full-time work.
- for work that is at least one year after your permanent resident visa is issued, not seasonal, and in a job that is
- Skill Type 0, or Skill Levels A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
The other criteria listed above under ‘eligibility requirements’ also apply under Category A. Applicants must obtain 67 points on the Nova Scotia points grid, and prove education level and language ability. Along wide-ranging occupations list.
In the words of Attorney David Cohen regarding this stream in Nova Scotia, stated - “Nova Scotia is opening its doors to a diverse range of Express Entry candidates, but being proactive and prepared is key.
The province has given a bit of advanced notice that the category is reopening, so there may be time for eligible candidates to get ready. However, it may be noted that even if you don’t manage to submit an application on this occasion, there may be another opportunity down the line.”
