A new draw of the Saskatchewan International Skilled Worker Pool on June 20 resulted in 479 invitations from immigration candidates with work experience in one of the five targeted occupations.
The International Skilled Worker category is part of the
Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), which allows the province to designate foreign workers for permanent residence in Canada.
The invitations were sent to applicants in the
Saskatchewan Express Entry and
Occupancy In-Demand sub-categories in Saskatchewan, both of whom require work experience in an occupation identified as being in demand in the province.
Candidates with work experience in five professions were targeted on June 20th:
- Accounting Technicians
- Architectural Technologists and Technicians
- Bakers
- Paramedical professions
- Medical laboratory technologists.
A total of 268 invitations were sent to candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system who also registered with
SINP.
The remaining 211 invitations were sent to immigration applicants belonging to the SINP "Occupation in Demand" subcategory.
In order to be considered for a provincial application in any of the subcategories, the first step required is to register an Expression of Interest, or EOI, with Saskatchewan.
For Express Entry candidates, this requires the creation of a separate Expression of Interest.
An expression of interest details, among other factors, the candidate's education, professional experience, proficiency in English or French, and gives him a mark of 100 points based on the information provided.
Candidates with the highest scores in the Express Entry and Occupying Demand pools are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
The lowest score on June 20 in the Express Entry and Occupied Demand subcategories was 68.
Saskatchewan has now sent 1,166 invitations to apply for a provincial application to Express Entry candidates and, to date, 1,407 to Occupy In-Demand candidates.
Express Entry Candidates who receive a provincial application from Saskatchewan are awarded an additional 600 points for their
Global Ranking System (GIS) score and are granted an expedited process to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence at Canada.
