New“fast-track” permanent residency program, focused upon highly-skilled migrants

New visa scheme to target specifically on the seven most tech jobs of future   The Australian Governments newly launched scheme to invite permanent migrants, that will specifically focus on highly-skilled technological professionals will be chosen from the seven most demanding occupations of the future. These fields include cyber security, quantum computing, fintech and more, and are identified with an objective to maintain Australia’s competitiveness in the global market.   The Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Services David Coleman on Monday announced the implementation of Global Talent Independent Program or the GTIP, with an intention to attract some of the best talents across the world to Australia.   The program will surely attract approximately 5000 high-income professionals who are currently working in the top positions in their respective fields to Australia, between the period of July 2019 and until June 2020. This process would be operated within a different scheme that will be a fast-tracked version of the existing permanent residency program.   This process of permanent residency to Australia is also separate from the “global talent –employer sponsored program” or the GTES, which in turn was made permanent in August 2019 after launching it as a 12-month pilot program.   Therefore, only those migrants who are working in one of these seven “future-focused technical fields”, and are expected to earn higher than $149,000 annually in Australia are identified to be eligible for permanent residency under GTIP.   These seven fields are AgTech, fintech, energy and mining technology, space and advanced manufacturing, cyber security, medtech, ICT and quantum information/data science/advanced digital.   However, inspections such as normal character, integrity and security checks will be undertaken similar to that of other migration programs.   However, unlike other immigration programs, instead of waiting for migrants to apply for the fast-tracked immigration program, GTIP promptly seeks talent using the “Global Talent Officers”, through the Department of Home Affairs.   These officers are deployed at various business centers across the world, including Berlin, Singapore, Washington DC, Singapore, Santiago, Shanghai, New Delhi and Dubai, to help candidates through the complete application process. In appreciation to same, Coleman has been reported to comment that this fast-tracked immigration process will take only weeks rather than months. The Home Affairs also reassured that the migrants would be provided with an opportunity to evaluate the program via a referral received from an organization or an individual who holds a national reputation under the same career field as that of the candidate’s profile.   Coleman further added that GTIP is aimed to precisely target the world’s highly-skilled migrant individuals and is assisting them to get the best positions within Australia for increasing the overall competitiveness.   We certainly want to place Australia in the forefront, that is among the leading economies of the world. The program will allow local enterprises to make use of the world’s most skillful talent which in turn will help to establish high growth industries across Australia. With time, the Global Talent Program would develop a remarkable impact on the overall economy of Australia.   While initially the scheme is focused to bring talent from overseas, the Department of Home Affairs expects that the program in the longer-run will also create opportunities for Australian citizens through promoting innovation, transferring required skills and thereby creating new job opportunities as a result of same.   The same fact has been accepted by the Karen Andrews, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology who also predicted that when 5000 GTIP placements will be done simultaneously with local job creation, would certainly drive exponential growth in the entire technology industry thriving in Australia.   He further added that for our domestic tech industry to develop, businesses are required to hire skilled local skilled workers while accessing the capabilities of those who would be migrated to Australia from across the world.   As Australia is all set to develop itself as a global technology hub, with the Global Talent Program acting as an open-gateway and inviting technical companies to establish their businesses across its various states, this is the best time to apply for immigration to Australia.   Explore various opportunities to immigrate to Australia and Canada with Immigration Experts.
