New Postcodes Released for Regional Areas of Australia 

 

The new list of postcodes for regional areas of Australia is now out to facilitate the immigration process, as announced by the Immigration today. This list has exclusively included the postcodes for Gold Coast and Perth.

The eligible applicants should note that this list of new postcodes, elaborated below is only applicable for new visa applications. This implies that the existing Subclass 489 Regional visa holders are not allowed to move to these newly announced regional areas of Australia.

Changes in the 485 Graduate Visa

From 16 November 2019 onwards, all those International Students who have completed their studies from universities and colleges that are located in “Cities and major regional centres” and are listed above, will be able to get an extra year as part of their Student or Graduate visa.

However, those students who are enrolled in an academic institution located in “Regional centres and other regional areas” that are listed above, would become eligible to obtain extra two years on their Student or Graduate visa.

 

Which visas does the regional status apply to?

Other than the Subclass 489 Regional visa category, the new definition of “Regional Australia” is also applicable on the following visa types, particularly for applications that are lodged either on or after 16 November 2019:
