Ontario Presented with 700 Additional Nominations to Invite Express Entry Candidates

Ontario immigration has successfully reached its nomination allocation for the year 2019 through federal government’s immigration scheme and has therefore received an additional 7000 extra nominations from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Canada’s national province had an initial allocation target of 6,650 nominations under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), which it was able to reach on December 9, 2019.

The province has now been allocated an extra 7000 nomination, thus bringing the total number of nominations that can be issued to eligible applicants equivalent to 7,350.

Therefore, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, which is the provincial nominee program of Ontario will continue to accept applications and will distribute nominations till the increased allocations would be fulfilled. This implies that the province will keep inviting qualified and talented candidates under the OINP’s In-Demand Skills Stream till it would reach its 2019 quota. Eligible candidates are mandatory to have received a job offer from a legitimate employer based in Ontario and are also need to have a minimum one year of professional experience under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level C.

Candidates who get provincial nomination can further apply towards the federal government for Canadian permanent residence.

Those individuals that have already entered their profiles in the Express Entry Pool are awarded with an additional 600 points on their current CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score and are therefore guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the subsequent draw.

The province of Ontario issues Notifications of Interest (NOI) to eligible Express Entry candidates via three streams: • Human Capital Priorities; • French Speaking Skilled Worker; and • Skilled Trades

Moreover, the provincial government of Ontario has announced that it will start releasing Tech Draws in the coming months and has specifically focusing upon technology related occupations, such as: 1. Software Engineers and Designers (NOC 2173) 2. Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers (NOC 2174) 3. Computer Engineers (NOC 2147) 4. Web Designers and Developers (NOC 2175) 5. Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172) 6. Computer and Information Systems managers (NOC 0213)

The draws issued through the provincial nominee program of the province are mainly designed to address and labour shortages in tech industry in the largest province of Canada.

Candidates are only required to meet the Human Capital Priorities Stream’s eligibility requirements and should hold a prior work experience in one of the enlisted occupations.

The OINP also manages a distinguish Expression of Interest (EOI) system for Entrepreneurs and issues notifications of interest (NOI) under Entrepreneurs Stream.

Stream Notification of Interest Issued
Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP) 6,958
French Speaking Skilled Worker Stream (FSSW) 549
Skilled Trades Stream (ST) 1,399
Entrepreneur Stream 66

There are total five streams through which skilled workers can apply directly to receive nomination from Ontario: Employer Job Offer (consider all three streams) and International Student’s Stream (Masters graduates and Doctorate degree holders).

The ONIP provides complete support to its employers as it facilitates them by attracting professional and skilled international workers on top managerial positions, along with international students.

The provincial government of Ontario operates OINP in association with the federal government of Canada or more specifically the Immigration Department of Canada, which is the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or IRCC. Interested candidates are needed to follow a two-step process to be nomination from Ontario: Apply for the nomination certificate to the provincial government of Ontario and if the nomination has been received then apply for the Canadian permanent residence from federal government.

Make Ontario your new home

The last few years have seen a drastic increase in the OINP’s nomination quotas which is mainly because the province is continued to be the top preference for international skilled migrants. Ontario is home to country’s most economically thriving cities, which mainly includes Toronto, Ottawa, London, Brampton among others. In September 2019 alone, the federal government of Canada included 80,000 jobs, in which Ontario was the major driving force.

The federal government has all plans to welcome more than one million skilled workers between the year 2019 and 2021 and we can surely predict that the provincial nomination program like that of Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and others will continue increasing their quotas to admit talented workforce in the coming years.
