The provincial nominee program of Alberta recently announced the results of its latest Express Entry Draw and has invited a total of 200 applicants that have secured a Comprehensive Ranking Score equivalent to 322 points.
The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) draw took place on April 29 and was the ninth draw of this year released by the provincial government of Alberta.
Alberta has conducted total four draws till now since Covid-19 crisis has caused lockdown situation across Canada.
One of the important eligibility requirements for the Alberta Express Entry stream are that the applicants should have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to the province, and are also working under an occupation which necessarily supports the economic development and diversification of Alberta.

The province of Alberta is yet to receive its nomination allocation from the federal government for the year 2020. The province is currently having a total of 1,625 applications that are waiting for the assessment through their eligibility.
Alberta conducted a total of 31 draws from the federal Express Entry pool during the last year and issued a total of 7034 Notification of Interest Letters.
Regular draws are being conducted through the Alberta Express Entry immigration stream, thereby selecting applicants from the federal Express Entry pool and issuing invitations to apply (ITAs) under the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).
What are the eligibility requirements for the Alberta Express Entry Program?
In order to become eligible and receive the notification of interest letter from the provincial government of Alberta, the applicant must:
- Have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool
- Have stated an interest towards immigrating to Alberta permanently
- Be employed in an occupation which supports that economic development and diversification of Alberta
- Have a minimum CRS score equivalent to 300 points
Factors that can improve the applicant’s chance of getting a Notification of Interest letter:
- A job offer from an employer in Alberta and/or evidence towards previous work experience in Alberta
- Having completed graduation from a post-secondary academic institution in Canada
- Having a relative already living in the province of Alberta, such as, parent, child and/or sibling
Factors that can reduce an applicant’s chances of getting a notification of interest letter:
- The Express Entry profile is going to expire within the coming 3 months
- The applicant is employed in an eligible occupation
The Federal Government of Canada is giving more power to all its provinces when it comes to selecting new foreign skilled immigrants. You should be aware that some of the provincial nominations result in an addition of 600-points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry System but some of these PNP streams does not work in direct alignment with the larger Express Entry System.
