The provincial nominee program of Ontario has targeted eligible Express Entry candidates that have prior work experience in one of the six targeted tech occupations
October 15, 2020
The provincial government of Ontario released its much awaited Tech Draw recently on October 15, inviting Express Entry candidates to apply for its provincial nomination program, profoundly known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
The OINP has issued targeted request letters or Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to only those eligible applicants who have found to be qualified under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream.
A total of 772 professionals received the NOIs under the Tech Draw. Express Entry candidates selected under this PNN draw required to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score which should be between 462 and 470 in order to receive the invitation. They are also required to show prior work experience in one of the following tech NOC occupation codes:
NOC 0213: Computer and Information Systems Managers
NOC 2147: Computer Engineers
NOC 2172: Database analysts and data administrators
NOC 2173: Software Engineers and Designers
NOC 2174: Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers
NOC 2175: Web Designers and Developers
Candidates selected under the OINP draw do not require possessing a job offer from the province to receive the NOI, but they necessarily require having a minimum of one year of prior work experience on one of the tech occupations mentioned above.
They are also required to have their profile submitted in the Express Entry System.
Qualified candidates who received the request letter from OINP in this recent draw have a total of 45 calendar days to submit their application to be considered for the provincial nomination.
If they have been awarded with a nomination from the OINP, they will automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points towards their existing CRS score in the EOI. This award of additional points will further ensure that the candidate will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the permanent residence of Canada in the subsequent Express Entry Draw. This is applicable for all those individuals who get nomination under any of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) across Canada.
This is OINP’s fourth Tech Draw in the year 2020. The one released on July 29 was still been considered as one of the biggest Tech Draws revealed till now in 2020, in which a total of 1,299 Express Entry applicants were issued an invitation to apply for the provincial nomination program of OINP.
How to get invitation from Ontario Tech Draw
The first and foremost step to become eligible for a nomination from the OINP Tech draw is to create and submit a profile in the federal Express Entry System.
Express Entry System can be explained as an application management system that operates three federal economic-class immigration programs that are: Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Worker Program. Further, Ontario’s Human Capital Priority Stream recognizes tech professionals from the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Canadian Experience Class.
The ranking of the Express Entry candidates is done according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which is evaluated across various human capital factors that are, education, employment experience, age and language proficiency in either English or French.
The OINP Tech Draws selects eligible candidates directly from the Express Entry pool, thereby inviting them to apply for the provincial nominee program of Ontario.
Once the entire process gets completed, candidates explored the required opportunity to settle and work in their desired technology career in the province of Ontario.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Providing pathways to Canada immigration
Yes! If the federal Express Entry is not working out due to some specific factor then you can explore other immigration options for migrating to Canada. There are a plenty of other ways to make it happen and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the most prominent pathways among these alternatives to move to Canada.
The Federal Government of Canada is giving more power to all its provinces when it comes to selecting new foreign skilled immigrants. You should be aware that some of the provincial nominations result in an addition of 600-points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry System but some of these PNP streams does not work in direct alignment with the larger Express Entry System.
