As of May 25, 2021, the provincial government of Alberta has removed the temporary eligibility criteria adjustments that were launched previously on April 29, 2020 for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The new criteria of selection of the skilled candidates from the Express Entry pool that will now be in effect for this immigration stream of the provincial nominee program is also set out on the Eligibility Criteria page of the province. This temporary criterion applies to all the new applicants, as well as on those candidates that have received a Notification of Interest (NOI) letter already from the provincial government of Alberta or who have their application in the processing stage before the May 25, 2021.
This new change implies that in addition to all those eligible candidates that are living and working in the province of Alberta, applicants may be selected and further nominated by the province, if they already have a prior job offer letter from an employer in Alberta or have a previous work experience in an occupation through which they will be able to contribute towards the economic development of the province. More importantly, entry of the individuals into the Canada is subject to any pandemic related public health measures being put in the place at that particular time.
