Immigration applicants who have received an approval from the provincial government will be able to apply for the permanent residence visa of Canada

January 05, 2021

The provincial government of British Columbia has issued invitations towards provincial nomination towards permanent residence of Canada to the eligible skilled immigrants and also to the Express Entry BC applicants recently on January 5, 2021.

A total number of 168 request letters were issued to the selected applicants across various immigration sub-categories of British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).

The immigration subcategories that are included in this PNP draw of British Columbia with their respective requirement of the minimum scores are as follows:

  • Skills Immigration: Skilled Worker: 95 points
  • Skills Immigration: International Graduate: 95 points
  • Skills Immigration Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled: 77 points
  • Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker: 99 points
  • Express Entry BC: International Graduate: 99 points

Impact of coronavirus pandemic on businesses and other crucial sectors across the province of British Columbia has led to the exclusion of specific occupations from the BC PNP list.

Candidates that are already in the Skilled Worker category, also in other Entry Level and Semi-Skilled and also International Graduate categories are necessarily required to register themselves with the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) after submitting their completed profile towards the BC PNP online system.

Applicants are assessed and are given a score on the basis of a range of human capital factors that include level of education, employment experience, and proficiency in English language along with others.

If the candidate gets approved, they can use their PNP nomination letter to apply for the permanent residence of Canada with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Express Entry applicants who have already applied and have received a provincial nomination towards permanent residence program received additional 600 point scores towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry application and are therefore effectively guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the Canadian PR from the federal Express Entry Draw.

Express Entry and the PNP are the two most prominent ways available for the skilled workers to help them immigrate to Canada.

The Express Entry Draws generally takes place in every two weeks duration.

The province of British Columbia holds draws under its various BC PNP immigration categories and stream which are released on a weekly basis.
