British Columbia recently announced its provincial nominee program (PNP) draw across two different immigration streams. The selected candidates were invited through the Entrepreneur Stream in the draw released on April 6, 2020, whereas candidates in the Tech Pilot Stream, which primarily includes Skill Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia Stream, were invited through the draw released on April 7, 2020.

Entrepreneur Immigration Stream

Entrepreneurs who are eligible and interested to immigrate to British Columbia can choose to move through the Regional Pilot – Entrepreneur Immigration Stream under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). The program is aimed towards bringing entrepreneurs who want to participate along with the regional communities to establish new businesses that agree with the economic growth requirements of the community.

The Regional Pilot – Entrepreneur Immigration program was first started in 2019 with an objective to empower the regional communities and to actively engage them in bringing international entrepreneurs preferably those whose business ideas are relevant with their economic preferences.

In the latest BCPNP draw, a total number of 18 Invitations to Apply (ITA) were being issued to candidates that have a minimum 107 CRS points under its Regional Pilot – Entrepreneur Immigration program. Further, this is the lowest score for this particular immigration stream since October 2019. The latest draw was the 5th Entrepreneur Immigration Program draw for the year 2020, with a total of 62 invitations to apply being announced so far for this year.

Tech Pilot Stream - Skill Immigration Stream (SI) and Express Entry British Columbia Stream (EEBC)

Under the Tech Pilot Immigration Category of the British Columbia PNP, a total of 147 ITAs were issued to eligible and skilled candidates. Skilled applicants with a minimum CRS score of 85 points were sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the provincial nomination. Here also, the higher scoring candidates have higher chances to receive the nomination from the province of British Columbia. The required eligibility points will be allocated to aspirants considering factors which include age, education, employment experience, English language proficiency and also adaptability.

The table below summarizes the outcomes of latest BC PNP draw:
