The PNP of British Columbia has issued invitations to apply (ITA) to eligible candidates through its Express Entry British Columbia and Skills Immigration category on April 29
The province of British Columbia as invited a total of 75 Skilled immigrants from the Express Entry pool to apply for the provincial nomination program for the permanent residence of Canada through the British Columbia’s tech pilot draw announced in April 29.
The Tech Pilot Draw issues invitation to apply for all those eligible international tech workers that have a valid job offer from an eligible employer in the province in one of the selected group of 29 in-demand technology related occupations.
Invitations were sent to both Skilled Workers as well as International Graduate candidates through the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration Stream. The minimum requirement of the scores for candidates in both these immigration categories was equivalent to 85 points.
EEBC candidates should be registered under immigration systems that are, the Federal Express Entry System and the British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Express Entry candidates that receive a provincial nomination get an additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System score within the Express Entry pool.
However, the Skills Immigration eligible candidates are only required to be registered with the SIRS.
Candidates are awarded with a score based on the factors which includes education, job experience and language proficiency as an important part of their registration process and then the highest-scoring candidate is invited to apply (ITA) for immigrating to Canada as permanent residents through the weekly held tech Pilot Draws.
Started in the year 2017, the Tech Pilot Draw addressed the labour demands in the province of British Columbia’s technology sector that cannot be met by the local workforce. Its goal was to ensure that the British Columbia’s tech sector has ample access to the talent and skill it needs to grow in the larger market.
Tech Pilot candidates are excluded from the permanent and full-time employment offer eligibility requirements that generally apply to most of the other immigration categories that come under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).
However, these Tech Pilot candidates should demonstrate an employment offer which is eligible for minimum one year duration and has a minimum of 120 calendar times remaining at the time when the candidate would apply for the Canadian immigration through the provincial nomination.
The Federal Government of Canada is giving more power to all its provinces when it comes to selecting new foreign skilled immigrants. You should be aware that some of the provincial nominations result in an addition of 600-points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry System but some of these PNP streams does not work in direct alignment with the larger Express Entry System.
