- The hugely popular Federal Skilled Worker Programme of Canada is nearing its conclusion for the year 2014. The last date for submission of applications for this Visa is December 31, 2014.
- The FSWP 2014 was launched in May, 2014.
- Those who are unable to meet this fast approaching deadline can apply through Express Entry system that comes into effect from January 1, 2015.
Federal Skilled Worker Programme – What all is required
The aspirants of the Federal Skilled Worker Programme (FSWP) of Canada need to score minimum 67 points that is required to clear the Points System year
The minimum score cited above is prescribed by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) authority
There are 50 occupations/work areas identified by the Canadian authorities and the applicants need to have experience of one year in any of these in the past 10 years as a basic eligibility criterion
The FSWP will be accepting 25,000 applications in all this year for consideration
Of this total, 1,000 applications will be chosen as the final cap for each of the identified occupations
Here, it is pertinent to note that for many of the listed 50 occupations, the acceptable limit of 1,000 is fast approaching
The other basic eligibility conditions are --
- The applicants must not have a criminal record
- Must not be suffering from serious health problems and ailments
- Must have cleared the IELTS language test
Now, focusing on the Express Entry programme, one finds that
- It is diametrically opposite to the FSWP in that unlike it, this is not a First Come First Served concept
- You will be pitted against applicants with similar education and work qualifications
- In other words, you know that you have the required work, education as well as the required eligibility qualifications and that your file will be processed
- But with a fixed number of maximum successful candidates staring at you combined with the rather steep demand for the Canadian Skilled Federal Worker Visa, the going is certain to be tough
