Yesterday, the department issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to 1,121 candidates in a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)-only draw, with a minimum CRS score of 694 required for consideration.
The recent series of Express Entry draws occurred between August 13 and 15. On August 15, a category-based draw targeted candidates with French language proficiency. On August 13, 763 candidates were invited in a PNP-only draw, where a minimum CRS score of 690 was needed.
IRCC plans to welcome 110,770 newcomers through Express Entry in 2024 and 117,500 in 2025. Candidates who receive ITAs later in the year are more likely to contribute to meeting the 2025 target, as IRCC aims to process all finalized Express Entry applications within six months.

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is an application management system that manages three key economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates in these programs are assessed and ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System, which assigns scores based on factors such as occupation, work experience, age, education, and language ability. Additional points are awarded for factors like immigrating with a spouse or partner or having a sibling in Canada.
The points earned for each factor are combined to form a total CRS score. Candidates with the highest scores are most likely to receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence in Canada in a future Express Entry draw.
In May 2023, IRCC announced that it would start conducting category-based rounds of invitations for Express Entry candidates who meet specific criteria related to their occupation or language abilities.
