Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw, issuing 800 invitations to apply (ITAs) through a category-based selection targeting candidates with French-language proficiency. To be eligible, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 466.

Today's selection marks the second Express Entry draw in December, following a December 2 draw focused on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.
In November, IRCC conducted six Express Entry draws, issuing a total of 5,507 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence (PR). As in previous months, draws have consistently targeted candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and PNP streams. This trend is expected to persist with the establishment of the new "In-Canada" focus category, designed to prioritize candidates from the CEC and other regional programs. This category may also include candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
Under Canada’s updated Immigration Levels Plan, this category has been allocated 82,980 PR admissions, accounting for over 40% of all planned admissions in 2024.
Additionally, candidates with strong French-language proficiency can anticipate increased ITA opportunities. Admissions for Francophone candidates outside Quebec are set to rise to 29,235 in 2024, with further increases planned for 2025 and 2026 as part of IRCC's Francophone immigration strategy.
