Justin Trudeau 2.0 – Immigration to Canada to become faster and easier
For the second time in the row, Justin Trudeau has retained its position in the Canadian parliament in a neck-to-neck Federal Election of 2019 but would be the prime minister of the minority government. It is expected that the Liberal party’s leader will enter into a coalition with the human rights lawyer and New Democratic Party’s (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh, as it would be necessary to pass various bills and legislation in favor of immigration in the Canadian parliament. Alike Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, the NDP holds a pro-immigration attitude which would be beneficial for many eligible applicants in India and also around the world who are waiting for a chance to receive their permanent residence (PR) to Canada. The news of Trudeau’s Liberal triumph and its anticipated coalition with NDP is being perceived as an optimistic move for the temporary visa holders in Canada (workers and students) and also for those who would be receiving their invitation to apply for the PR visa for the first time in a while. It is therefore highly expected that the immigration process to Canada would become easier and faster in the near future. Some of the pro-immigration proposals made by Justin Trudeau lately, that are being expected to get implemented in the coming months include:- a considerable increase in the number of immigrants.
- launch of Municipal Nominee Program that would allow smaller cities to nominate individuals to move as permanent residents of Canada.
- the application for Canadian citizenship to become free for all the PR holders that are already living in Canada.
- making the Atlantic Immigration Pilot stream as permanent.
