Till date, a total of 30,400 ITAs have been issued to eligible candidates via the Express Entry System

April 17, 2020

The Federal Express Entry System for Canada immigration announced two back to back draws in a span of just two days. The draw released on April 16, 2020 issued invitations to 3,782 skilled and talented applicants and their families to apply for the permanent resident visa for Canada.

These Invitation to Apply (ITAs) for the permanent residence of Canada were being issued to candidates that have applied under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and have scored a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) equivalent to 455 or higher, making it the lowest score of the Express Entry draw in 2020, however exclusively inviting candidates only in one selected category of the Express Entry System.

This draw follows the Express Entry draw which issued 118 ITAs on April 15, 2020 to candidates that have received nomination letter for the Canadian immigration through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), thereby bringing the total number of invitations issued only in last two days to 3,900.

This was the eleventh draw under the Express Entry System in 2020 and the 144th round of invitation overall.

Mostly the Express Entry draws consists of eligible candidates from all the three immigration classes and the recent draw was therefore one of the rare exceptions to this general rule. This was the fourth draw that targeted exclusively Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates since the start of Express Entry draws for 2020. It is predicted that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has targeted CEC applicants mainly because they are most likely already present in Canada, pertaining to the current situation in place caused due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

The latest draw for April 16, 2020 inviting only Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates had a CRS cut-off score of 455 and was 9 points lower than the last CEC Express Entry Draw, which was 464 and was released on April 9, 2020.

Given Government of Canada’s higher admission targets, mainly for its three Federal Skilled Immigration Programs for the year 2020 and 2021, it is expected that IRCC will definitely hold more frequent draws in the upcoming weeks and months.
