Express Entry draw figures for the latest May 1 draw are detailed below.
In the latest Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada, released on May 1, a total of 3,322 eligible and skilled candidates will be issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA). This draw was particularly restricted to those candidates that submitted their application of interest under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) of the Express Entry System. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off for this latest draw was equivalent to 452 points.
This has been recorded as the lowest CRS score requirement in 2020, with a decrease of three points from the April 16 CEC draw that revealed a minimum CRS cut-off of 455.
Another 589 ITAs were also issued to those Express Entry candidates that are being nominated through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) earlier this week. The minimum CRS cut-off score for these candidates was 692 points.
Similar to previous month’s rounds of invitation, this draw also continues the IRCC’s trend of inviting only the PNP and CEC candidates. It has therefore, now been more than a month since the last all-program draw, which generally accepts the Federal Skilled Workers immigration category, has been released by the IRCC. A trusted source has however confirmed after direct conversation with the IRCC that the Express Entry draws are limited to only PNP and CEC candidates for the time being mainly due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation across Canada and also other parts of the world. It is unclear how long these restrictions will be imposed in place.
Is Canada still inviting Express Entry candidates amidst COVID-19 situation?
The Government of Canada is still issuing Invitation to Apply (ITA) to Express Entry candidates. However, according to one trusted legal source that are in direct contact with the representatives of both IRCC and also the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the Government of Canada has restricted the draws from the Express Entry System to only PNP and CEC candidates for a short period of time. It is although unclear as to when the IRCC will re-start the all-program draws.
Is Canada still processing the applications under the Express Entry System during the COVID-19 situation?
Yes, the Government of Canada through the IRCC is still processing the applications of the skilled and professionals candidates for the Federal Express Entry System, but the draws are restricted to only the CEC and PNP candidates.
When will the next Express Entry Draw can be expected?
There is no stringent schedule of the Express Entry draws, as the subsequent Express Entry draw cannot be predicted for a particular date. However, IRCC has historically maintained a pattern of conducting the Express Entry draws in every two weeks time, and often these federal draws take place on Wednesdays. However, these draws can take place on some other days of the week as well and can be revealed in longer or shorter gap between one Express Entry draw and the next or from the previous one.
Are there any alternative options to Federal Express Entry?
Yes! If the federal Express Entry is not working out due to some specific factor then you can explore other immigration options for migrating to Canada. There are a plenty of other ways to make it happen and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the most prominent pathways among these alternatives to move to Canada.
The Federal Government of Canada is giving more power to all its provinces when it comes to selecting new foreign skilled immigrants. You should be aware that some of the provincial nominations result in an addition of 600-points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry System but some of these PNP streams does not work in direct alignment with the larger Express Entry System.
