On March 26, 2018 Express Entry candidates with CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score of 351 and above received an ITA(Invitation to Apply) from the province of Ontario. Two invitation rounds were conducted for nominating candidates from the Express Entry pool. These invitations were provided from the HCP (Human Capital Priorities) stream.

Each candidate who would have received an ITA would also get additional 600 points through their CRS score. 779 candidates were provided the ITA. Being nominated by a province can significantly boost a candidate’s CRS score.

Ontario’s HCP stream ranks candidates on the basis of Job offer from an Ontario based employer and English and French Language skills.

The results of yesterday’s round are as follows:

Search #2: Candidates in the Express Entry pool who meet the HCP stream criteria and who have French language skills at Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or above in all language abilities. Number of invitations issued: 299 Date and time of portal search: March 26, 2018 at 4PM EST CRS score range: 351-446 Date Express Entry profile submitted: January 1, 2018 to March 26, 2018

The OINP is managing the volume of applications to the HCP stream at this time. The OINP will be issuing NOIs on a regular basis.

The two latest draws were geared towards meeting the labour requirement for the province. Another target was to take in more French speaking immigrants into the province.

Express Entry is a fairly simple immigration program that enables candidates to apply for a single immigration program. Prior to this, candidates had to apply to different programs appropriate according to their requirements. This caused a lot of confusion. Also, the points accorded for job offer have been slashed substantially.

Usually candidates with more than 400 points in Express Entry pool are provided nomination by any province. Lately this number has been falling due to Canada’s requirement of immigrants to boost their economy.
