The provincial government of Prince Edward Island recently held a draw through the PNPs Expression of Interest System on June 17

The provincial government of Prince Edward Island has announced the results of its June 17 PNP draw.

The province invited 113 eligible candidates through the PEI provincial nominee program.

Majority of these invitations, that is, 101, were issued to candidates from the Express Entry and Labour Impact Category. The remaining 12 invitations went to those Business Impact applicants that were having a minimum point threshold of 60. This was the sixth draw of the year held by the province, in which till now, a total of 905 candidates have been invited.

PNP enables provinces and territories across Canada to select skilled immigrants who meet their province’s labor market needs. This also stands true for the Prince Edward Island, which administers the provincial nominee program of the province that is Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). This PNP operates completely within the guidelines of the federal government.

The immigration levels for PEI, similar to all other parts of the country has declined over the past few months due to the ongoing pandemic situation. However, the federal government of Canada has plans to achieve its ambitious immigration target for the year 2021. For the PNP immigration, the federal government of Canada has plans to admit more than 80,000 skilled immigrants for this year.

  PEI Express Entry Category

The PEI PNPs Express Entry Category is associated directly with the Canadian Government Express Entry System.

Eligible Entry Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points towards their existing CRS score of the Express Entry application and are therefore guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next Express Entry Draw for the permanent residence of Canada.

Express Entry candidates who will receive a provincial nomination are awarded with an additional 600 points towards their existing Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and are therefore guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the permanent residence of Canada in the next Federal Express Entry Draw.

In order to get considered for the Provincial Nomination from the province of OEI, Express Entry candidates are required to create and submit the EOI profile towards the PEI PNP.

These EOI profiles are then given points based on the unique point grid system followed by the province. The highest scoring candidate then receives an invitation to apply (ITA) from the draws that takes place frequently in the gap of approximately one month time.

Further, it should be noted that the PEI PNP has not provided ant breakdown of the total number of candidates that were selected under the Express Entry immigration category as well under the other Labour Impact Category nor they have intimidated the minimum EOI score needed for each stream.

Labour Impact Category

The Labour Impact Category of the PEI PNP is designed for the foreign nationals who already have a valid job offer from the PEI and have also received support from the employer based in PEI. It is further being divided into three immigration stream: Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate.

Candidates in this immigration category as well should also submit the EOI profile so that they can be considered for the provincial nomination under the Labour Impact immigration category.

Business Impact Category

A total number of 32 candidates that were invited under the Business Impact immigration category in the recent draw are required to have a minimum EOI score equivalent to 102. All these invitations were issued to these eligible candidates under the Work permit Stream, which in turn is especially designed for the entrepreneurs who want to own and manage a business in the province of PEI.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Providing pathways to Canada immigration

Yes! If the federal Express Entry is not working out due to the current pandemic situation or some specific factor then you can explore other immigration options for migrating to Canada. There are a plenty of other ways to make it happen and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the most prominent pathways among these alternatives to move to Canada.

The Federal Government of Canada is giving more power to all its provinces when it comes to selecting new foreign skilled immigrants. You should be aware that some of the provincial nominations result in an addition of 600-points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the Express Entry System but some of these PNP streams does not work in direct alignment with the larger Express Entry System.
