March 6 Express Entry Draw: 3,350 ITAs Issued
Canada conducted its fifth Express Entry draw for 2019 in which 3,350 candidates were issued an ITA (Invitation to Apply.) The CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) cutoff for the recent draw is 454 points.
A tie-break was applied for the March 6 draw, meaning that not all candidates with 454 CRS points may receive an ITA. As multiple candidates may have 454 CRS points, those who had their profile in the pool before February 11, 2019 at 17:21:27 UTC were prioritized.
The record low Express Entry cut-off threshold ever for an all-program draw is 413.
Till now 17,850 ITAs have been issued in the year 2019. The recent draw is a part of Canada’s ambitious plan to bring in more than a million immigrants by 2021.
Between the latest and the previous draw, the minimum CRS score requirement has dropped from 457 to 454 points. According to the immigration plan for the period 2019-2021, Canada will take in:
- 191,600 immigrants in 2019
- 195,800 immigrants in 2020
- 202,300 immigrants in 2021
With Express Entry program gaining more traction, the number of applications have risen sharply. Immigration seems to be a simple and effective solution to Canada's declining and aging population. Further, Canada is also taking substantial number of refugees and low skilled immigrants.
