According to Trade and Tourism Minister Dan Tehan, the reopening of Australia's international border to foreign students and skilled migrants is "on track" for December 15.
It comes two weeks after the reopening was postponed due to the emergence of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
"Obviously, National Cabinet will convene on Friday," Mr. Tehan told Sky News Australia, "but everything we're seeing from this new variant leads to the notion that we should be able to progress on the 15th."
"Which is fantastic news for Australia's tourism sector, fantastic news for colleges, fantastic news for all those industries searching for the manpower that will help us get out of this pandemic."
