A Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) is a set of documents submitted to Engineers Australia to assess an applicants engineering skills for migration purposes.
It is mainly required when the applicants qualification is not accredited by Engineers Australia or does not belong to a Washington/accord-recognized institution.
The CDR is made up of three key sections:
- Career Episodes
- Summary Statement
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Here is a simple explanation of each part:
Career Episodes (CE) describe your real engineering experience, such as projects, research work, internships, employment, or training undertaken during your career. A total of three career episodes must be written.
Each career episode is divided into four sections:
- Introduction - around 100 words
- Background - 200 to 500 words
- Personal Engineering Activity - 500 to 1000 words
- Summary - 50 to 100 words
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a table that records your learning and professional growth after completing your qualification, showing how you have kept your engineering knowledge up to date.
Summary Statement (SS) is also a table that links the competencies demonstrated in all three career episodes with the standards set by Engineers Australia, clearly mapping your skills to the required elements.
