Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a new Express Entry draw on July 7, 2026. This draw specifically targeted candidates under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). As a result, IRCC invited 2,000 eligible candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
To qualify for this round, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 517. The latest draw highlights Canada’s continued focus on selecting skilled workers with Canadian work experience to address labour market demands and support long-term economic growth.

Understanding Express Entry Programs
Canada’s Express Entry system manages applications under three major economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Since June 2023, IRCC has been conducting three types of Express Entry draws: general draws, program-specific draws, and category-based draws. The July 7, 2026 draw was exclusively for candidates under the Canadian Experience Class, recognizing individuals who have already gained valuable skilled work experience in Canada.
How CRS Scores Work
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) ranks Express Entry candidates based on several factors, including:
- Age
- Education
- Language proficiency
- Skilled work experience
- Canadian work experience
- Additional points for provincial nominations, valid job offers, Canadian education, or eligible family members in Canada
Candidates with higher CRS scores have a better chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
Steps to Receive an ITA
If you are planning to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry, follow these steps:
- Check your eligibility under FSWP, FSTP, or CEC.
- Create your Express Entry profile.
- Receive your CRS score.
- Wait for an Express Entry draw.
- Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) if your CRS score meets the cut-off.
